I worked for a trucking company for the last 5 years and was on salary (800.00) per week. I left in December of 2006 I worked every day M-F from 0630 until 1700 which is 10.5 hours per day. should i have been paid overtime for the 2.5 hours per day?

Were you an exempt or non-exempt employee? What were your job duties? Did you drive a truck? Thanks.

Did you drive a truck?

And if you drove a truck, did you do so across state lines?

I was the director of training and was in charge of all trainers that worked for us around 35 trainers plus all of the trainees which was around 50 per week, I did not drive a truck. I did scheduling and overseen all training aspects and did road test on all trainees coming out of their training process. I also worked in the Safety dept. and did most of the terminations for the company. I would be sent around 2 times per year to other terminals out of state for a week at a time to do safety audits and give road test to our trainers who were out of town.

Sounds like your job duties could qualify you as exempt under the Administrative exemption and, if so, no overtime pay is ever required.

I agree - from the info in the post sounds like could be exempt & would get no extra pay no matter how many hrs. worked.
