Hi all

Not sure where to ask this; In California, can a person on unemployment try and start an LLC (but makes no income from it)? Will he loose Unemployment benefits by doing so?

Thank You

I cannot give you a hard and fast answer that is binding on CA.

I can only tell you that in my state, which is not California but is nearly as employee-friendly, there is a maximum number of hours (I think it's 20 per week but I won't swear to it) that you can work at your own business. After that, they take the position that it will be affecting your job search and benefits can be terminated.
