I am the manager of a national retail parts store, my company states I am an Exempt Employee. From what I make of reading the labor laws on being an Exempt employee, I don’t meet the requirements. I do not have the ability to fire an employee without approval, I don’t have a say in their pay. I don’t determine the budgets.
I work in excess of 60 hours on a normal week and in excess of 80 hours some weeks. I guess the real question is, just because the company I am employed with, states that I am an Exempt employee or does the job duties determine whether or not I am an exempt?
