I have a serious problem with my room mate. Unfortunately, I can not afford the apartment by myself because of expenses related to rehabbing my knee.
There are only 2 people on the lease, myself and him. He has, however, practically moved his girlfriend in. She is not on the lease and there was a verbal agreement before we moved in that she would not visit often.
The other problem is, he recently got a dog. He did not discuss the acquisition with me until he was bringing the dog in. He wants to keep the dog a secret because he can not afford to pay the pet deposit fee and I am definitely not willing to pay for it. I wasn't consulted in the decision, I'm not paying for it.
The last problem is that he has drug paraphenelia in the apartment. He has smoked marijuana in the apartment on a few different occasions.
As far as the unwanted resident, the lease states that guests can not stay for more then 5 days without being put on the lease after a $50 credit check fee.
Would I be able to get out of the lease upon his eviction? I don't want to pay the $1300 fee to break the lease.
