Hello,
I work for a small law firm in New Jersey. I do traveling closings for residential real estate in New Jersey and New York. My question is, while I'm using my personal car for Law firm work, Shouldn't my employer's insurance be covering me ? I recently had a semi truck kick up road debris and damage my car, at first my employer ( a lawyer ) refused to pay for it. Then changed his mind later on. Upon discussing my safety, and lack of company insurance to cover my claim I refused to do anymore closings till the matter was resovled. After taking a day off to have my car fixed, I was told I was back on for closings the next week. My employer had no answer to his insurance covering me so I refused. I was promptly " Laid off " due to business slowing down. Whats a girl to do ? Was I wronged some how or just working for a bad boss that skirts the rules ?
Thnx Jillian
