This is for my dad. He wants me to ask. I will tell him or let him see the reults I get.
My father is moving out of our home. I am moving in with a friend. He is moving into a home down the road from where we currently live. Not managed by the same landlord. While living there the landlord refused to fix a sink in the bathroom, the roof in the kitchen, and other issues. If my father were to leave could he make my father pay for what he didn't fix? In my dad's lease it stated that the landlord would fix things up if they broke and such. Also my brother kicked in a door about two weeks ago. My brother moved out of the home after that. Would my dad have to pay for the damage?

The landlord fixes the regular maintenance issues while your father would be responsible for any damage done while he leased the residence as well as be responsible for rent up until the end of the lease.

he wouldn't still have to pay rent if he wasn't living there would he? wouldn't the lease end if he moved out?

A lease ends at a specific date. Exmaple a one year lease signed on April 2006 ends on April 2007.

so he is still going to have to pay?
even though he isn't living in that residence anymore?

When did or does lease expire? Your Father would owe rent for remainder of time on leas eor until place is rerented providing landlord made honest effort to rerent.

the lease ends sometimes this year. my dad had to move out because we couldn't afford rent there and the place was falling apart. we were going to be evicted last month had my dad not been able to borrow some money.

The he owes whatever unpaid rent he has not paid as well as damages he caused and any time remaining on lease that place stays unoccupied
