If someone lives on a piece of property in Alabama without paying for it and the property is sold is there a law that states that because they have lived there for a certain amount of years that it is theirs even though they have no deed etc for it? Thanks

It is my understanding that this was the case many years ago in Alabama but that is a long gone law. We actually researched this very issue back in 1992 and this domain law was no longer in effect. There is no free ride. Contact a land title attorney for more specifics and any exclusions there may be.
