View Full Version : Overtime for tipped employees? North Carolina

I work at a private country club. Recently they switched us from time and a half(for overtime hours) to something called retro pay. Sometimes it ends up being less than my hourly rate.

How can they do this? I was told it is because I am a tipped employee. They have a formula given to them by their accountant to pay us. It sounds like they are ripping us off. Half of my hours are banquet hours and half are tipped.

They then do this formula for the hours over forty which they tried to explain to us, but it sounded like they were talking in circles. Can anyone explain this better to me or am I getting ripped off and how do I stop it from happening?
Thanks, Cricket

Duplicate post. All the responders read all the employment law forums; there is no need to post more than once.

When someone comes by who has the answer, they will respond.

Not a problem. Not yelling at you, just explaining. :)
