I submitted a hail storm claim to my homeowner's insurance company. They promptly sent me the insurance check endorsed to my self and ABN Amro, my mortgager. I completed all the required work over Labor Day weekend 2007. I had the home inspected by ABN Amro and when I called to find out when I would be receiving my insurance check, I was told that CitiMortgage bought ABN Amro, taking control of my mortgage, and I was required to now contact CitiMortgage regarding the insurance claim because they owned my loan. After contacting CitiMortgage, I found out that ABN Amro's home inspector would not release the inspection report to CitiMortgage. My 2nd home inspection was completed almost 2 weeks ago. I still have not received my insurance check. Every time I call CitiMortgage to follow up, I am told they are experiencing an unusually high call volume, the representative takes my contact information, and I am told someone will call me back within 24-48 business hours. I have two questions:
1 - Can anyone suggest how I can get my insurance money? I had to pay the contractors for the insurance damage on a credit card (a Citibank card, coincidentally) and am now experiencing interest charges because I haven't received the funds yet!
2 - I received a check in the mail from CitiMortgage for "accrued interest" of about $35.00 a few days after the 2nd inspection. There was no description of what the interest rate they used, the base amount of money they calculated the interest for, or the timeframe I accrued the interest. Do you know of any resources I can access to find this information?

Thanks, in advance, for any help!

I think that you can go to another insurance company. Let them do another. evaluation.
