Can they make commissioned employees attend required training and not pay them?

The employees are working on commission only, they are not an outside sales rep. They work on site

Maybe.

If you are an outside sales rep, you are exempt from minimum wage and overtime requirements and the answer would be, "Yes, they can make you attend training and not pay you a dime."

Agreed. If however this is not Exempt - Outside Sales, then it gets complicated. There are several different legal possibilities. See if the following rules (Inside Sales - Retail) applies.

I did NOT want to go there until the OP affirmed or denied being outside sales.

The variations on inside sales boggle the mind and mine is boggled enough for the night.:p

This is NOT outside sales.

Employees are paid on commission ONLY. Selling at employers place of business.

If we are talking retail sales, then I gave you the pointer to the federal rules. You are looking for a simple yes/no question, but because you apparently fall under the Non-Exempt Inside Sales rules, the answer is not simple. Sorry about that. The employer is required to keep track of all hours worked, including training. Then the total amount of commissions paid is compared to hours worked (including training). Depending on the math (check the rules I gave you), the commission payments may be enough to cover all hours, or it may not.
