I have been tasked with creating a schedule for our EMS and would like to know at what time EMT's start to obtain overtime. I know emergency workers have a different rule. They would be working 24 hours on, one day on call and then another 24 hour shift. They are allowed to sleep between calls.
Thank You

I work in EMS in Texas and they way it works with the company I work for is once and employee has logged 40 hrs within a work week anything there after is overtime. So if in one week said employee works 24 hrs on 48 off and 24 on, that's 40 hrs of straight time and 8 hrs of overtime.
The fact that employees are able to sleep between calls does not factor into the situation since they are still "technically" on duty.
