To all:
About two weeks ago, I was told that business was really slow. So my hours were cut back to 24 hours a week. (3 full days) There was no assurance that things would pick up anytime soon. I also have an opportunity to take an internship that would go towards completing my degree. I'm thinking of quitting and going for the internship.
My question is if I quit, what has turned into a partime job, can I draw Unemployment which would help me get through the internship?
Employment Security says they can't answer the question because it would have to go through review in Raleigh.
Any Ideas or opinions on my chances? By the way the internship would last about 3 months and would probably not be paid.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Steggie:)

If your local unemployment office can't tell you, we certainly can't.

The problem I see is that you cannot simply sit back and collect unemployment while on an internship.

You must be able and willing to work and attempting to secure new employment, even if the UI folks were to rule that your resignation was with good cause attributable to your employment.
