Now I am not very experienced in labor laws but I do know that there are some states that express that if you show up for a shift you are paid for 4 hour hours even if they send you home before that now I'm wondering of that is true for Mississippi because I have been sent home twice as soon as I showed up for my shift and because my position wasn't need at the time I didn't even clock in

Darn few states have such laws and, so far as I know, only California requires payment of half the scheduled shift to a maximum of four hours. Massachusetts also has a reporting time law.
The Southeast is not very labor friendly. Mississippi has no such provision.
Some companies voluntarily pay for reporting. We pay two hours.

The Southeast is not very labor friendly.
I second, third, and forth that motion. In fact the Southeast is so "not very labor friendly" as to perhaps be considered very labor UNFRIENDLY!. It is way past time for a change. Wouldn't you agree?
I have said this before:
A little over a year ago I worked up a series of fact sheets for a client showing basic labor laws for each state.
Mississippi had the fewest "the employer must" and the most "the employer need not" of any of the 50 states.

Not really.
There are thirteen states now considering allowing employees to sue abusive bosses.
More money for trial lawyers, more expense for companies.
I worked for an abusive boss once. He owned the business. I left him. His loss.
No state requires employees receive vacations, holidays, sick leave, yet companies do provide those to attract and retain the best talent they can afford.

Whats the odds of you posting that here?
Since the work belongs to the client I did it for, not very good.

O.K fair enough. Would you happen to know of a link that would post similar info that is not proprietary?
You can try the various state DOL websites, but I warn you, some are much more user friendly than others.
If you're looking for a single site that will list all the various laws for all 50 states, I don't think one exists. Not for free, anyway.
