I am 5 months PG and looking for a new job in Arizona. My question is do I have to tell the employer during the interview or after I am offered the job? I am so lost on this. I have an interview on Friday, Please help.
There is no law that specifies when you have to tell an employer, or prospective employer, about your pregnancy. That's between you and the employer.
A few things to be aware of: (1) If you are five months along, it's not impossible that he'll be able to tell without being told. (2) If the employer has 15 or more employees, it is illegal for him to use your pregnancy in making the hiring decision. (3) The fact that he cannot refuse to hire you because of your pregnancy does not mean he is required to hire you; he can refuse to hire you for other reasons (4) Unless you are specifically asked, I see no need to mention it - no sense giving him any more information than is required (5) Arizona does not have a state version of FMLA and at only four months or less employment qualify for FMLA, so you will not be entitled by law to any more medical leave than would be offered to any other employee who had been with the company only four months (and such leave does not have to be paid)
Have I thoroughly confused you? Sorry, that was not my intention. Just some random thoughts about your situation at a really ridiculous hour of the morning.
