At my job it looks like I will be getting a bit of OT the next 2 months (possibly about 10 hours a week).

Does anyone know the hourly wage for OT in SC, and if it exceeds, matches or falls below that of the California OT wage, which I recall was time and a half. But perhaps in SC OT is higher. Or perhaps it is lower.

Thanks,

John

In SC you would get time & a half after working over 40 hrs. per week.

In Ca. they start paying time & a half after working over 8 hrs. in a day. I believe after so many hrs. in a day (believe 12) & so many hrs. in a week they will start paying double time.

Maybe a HR person will come along & have something add'l. to add.

This may mean that I wont be making as much in OT here.

But anyways thanks for your help.

Costs are much lower here anyways.

A $9-$13 an hour job goes allot farther here than in the SF Bay Area where such a job usually limits your ability to live on your own.

CA is the ONLY state that EVER requires more than time and a half, with double time required in rare circumstances. Only three states require overtime to be paid for over 8 hours in a day; Alaska, California and Nevada. Colorado requires overtime to be paid for over 12 hours in a day.

Overtime in SC is exactly the same as it is in 45 other states; time and a half over 40 hours in a week. And, as in all 50 states, it is ONLY required for time WORKED, not for paid leave of any kind; vacation, holiday, sick, personal, or anything else.

A very brief search on these boards would have told you this; in fact, I'm reasonably sure we've already told you this. The law does not change because you ask again.

Thanks for answering my question.

I have never asked a question about SC OT law, because I just moved here. If you can find a previous question please bring it to my attention.

Thanks..

John

One of these days, I will note who is posting before opening a thread.
