I am getting ready to file an overtime lawsuit against my employer. I would like to get different opinions and scenarios of outcomes that happened in regards to keeping your job with the company you are filing suit against. I am aware there are federal laws that protect you from retaliation for filing a lawsuit, but do most companies fire you anyway and wait for the case to go to court. The attorney I am working with seems to believe I would be protected by the federal law but I would like to get some other opinions based on past experiences.

Your attorney knows your case far better than anyone here does. If the attorney feels that you are protected, then you should go with that advice. If something different happens, it is your attorney's job to make sure that your rights are adequately protected.

Other than that, the only opinions you will likely get are pure speculation and the random conspiracy theorist who feels all of corporate America is out to get you.
