I've hired many lawyers over the past 20 years and only one ever got back to me when they said they would and I think that was only because he was a personal friend. Too bad he only practices real estate law. It seems very common that there is a lack of communication between lawyer and client. They of course need to meet with clients and have other duties as well, but you'd think that the office staff could at least have a running list of clients and what status their case is. demartian 05-15-2007, 09:30 AM You certainly are not alone Dev. I find the court systems very frustrating myself. Everything seems to take forever. stiffnecked 05-16-2007, 04:56 PM When you get a chance go to the lawyers office, in person, and sit there until you get the answers that you want. Sometimes that's what it boils down to. You have to play hardball and quit playing phone tag. If they still give you the run around I'd send them a letter, certified with a return receipt and tell them they have 2 options: 1. They do the work they were hired to do or 2. They return your retainer in full. If you still don't get anything going flat tell them you are turning this over to an attorney that specializes in malpractice claims and then follow through and find one.... |
