while i'm maternity leave (which my company does not pay for) i'll make my 2 year mark. i'll have earned my 2 weeks vacation. if i ask my boss for the 2 weeks in conjunction with my 8 week leave, and the only time i would get paid for is the 2 weeks vacation, and then if i plan to quit right after that, would that be wrong of me and what, if anything, would i be responsible for paying them back? while i'm on leave, they are not paying anything toward my insurance, i have to pay that on my own, but i'm thinking for the 2 week vacation, they will pay toward my premium. would i be responsible for what they pay toward my premium? do i give 2 weeks notice while i'm on leave?

If your absence is covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act, FMLA provides employers with the legal authority to recoup the cost of health insurance benefits paid on the employee's behalf. Not all employer choose to exercise this right, but it does exist.

If you know that you will not be returning to work after the baby is born, the best that that you can do is to be honest with the employer about your plans.
