hi,
my employeer does not offer any pay while on maternity leave. thankfully i will have STD to pay me while i'm out. i'll be out for 8 weeks. i really don't know if i'll be returning to work after that. i would like to know if i quit work while on my leave (like around my 6th or 7th week) what happens with the STD? will i still get paid till the end? or would it be best to return to work for 1 day after my leave and tell them that is my last day? also, will STD look at it as my last day of employment being the day before i started my leave? and if so, will i get in penalized for collecting STD?
i'm in louisiana if that helps any.
ANOTHER THOUHT: i'm having to pay for my health insurance myself as if i were on cobra, so would this affect anything? technically, i dont think i would be responsible for any retroactivity. i'm not getting paid through my employeer for the leave, nor or they paying for my insurance.
