I Live in Arizona and i got a letter in the mail saying she wants me to pay for half the medical bills of our little cutie.. How is that going to work out exactly? Will i have to send her more in child support? or when the baby gets sick ill get a bill? She has been arrested for credit card fraud and her mom takes care of the baby...The money i send for child support is spent on things for her...I have a court date in june in which i will appear over the phone..i just dont want to give her more money to spend on herself.. should i send the court proof of the many arrests shes had? that she is irresponsible with the money? i dont know what to do?

her criminal record has nothing at all to do with the financial needs of the child, you both are equally responsible for providing finacially for the child, including medical bills
what you should ask for is a bill, sent by her, crr, with 15 days of incurring the charge, which you would then have 15 or 30 days to pay- with wording in the order stating that if she doesn't send the bill properly per the requirements of the court order then you are not obligated to pay it.....the arguement for this is she cannot then hang onto 5k worth of bills and then send them all at once expecting a 2.5k check from you ........a side benefit of doing it this way...mom doesn't sound like the most responsible creature....is she on top of things enough to send the bills properly?
AND if you answer yes that she is not responsible enough to handle billing properly, how is she responsible enough to fully care for the child and have you tried to get primary custody?

she doesnt take care of the child... its the babies grandmother that takes care of her.. the mom takes care of the baby maybe 10%.... im in arizona.... im a student .. i have a job that lets me go to school and pay for it.. not much else... when these things come up i get stressed out.. i feel the ball isnt in my court...i havent seen the baby in a year an 9 months... the baby just turned 2. so i guess ill tell the judge to make her send me the bill pretty soon as she gets it so they dont pile up on me...

Given the situation, I would request that you either pay the Doctor directly or have Mom show PROOF that she has paid the bill to be reimbursed ...

if mom is not appropriately caring for the child- it may be more prudent at this time for you to put your own dreams on hold, move to VA, fight for custody and ensure your baby's proper care, and the relationship between you and baby

I agree, school is important, but your child is more important, sorry hon! If that can not be done at this second in time, then the least you should do, is say I am willing to pay half of a doctors bill that is sent to me directly from the doctor, and I will pay my half directly to the doctor that sent the bill. I imagine any judge would go for that, you are not refusing to pay, you are just insuring that the bill is paid, so your credit is not ruined! Make sure the doctors in question know that you are not 100% responsible for the payment of the bill, so if she flakes on her half, then your credit is not affected by her irresponsibility. Send each doctor you send a payment to, the copy of the court order that explains your financial responsibility, and speak to them immediately, to let them know that she may not pay her half, and you want reasurance that you will not be sent to collections for the remaining balance!
