Is there a waiting period for short term disability benefits when used for pregnancy in Colorado?

I have worked in the same casino for 5 years and have paid for short term disability benefits since January of 2005. My company was bought by another company in 2006. Every year we have open enrollment and I signed up for the short term disability benefits again because I am pregnant. Now I am getting ready to file my claim(my due date in June 8th) and I am being told that I am not eligible for benefits because the policy that started on Jan.1st is different from the policy I had for the last 2 years and the 9 month waiting period isn't up until September. The policy I had before was an individual policy and the new policy is a group plan. The Short term diasability benefits are provided by the same insurance company. Is this legal? Worried in CO.

Whether or not there is a waiting period depends on the terms of the policy itself. That is not an issue addressed by law. There is no law prohibiting a waiting period.
