My wife is 40 Wks pregnant right now, due 4/26/07. She was informed 3 weeks ago that the company she works for is being sold to another company. The sale is effective on 5/7/07. If she were to have the baby before 5/7/07 would her short term disability (she gets one full week of pay after one week of sick time, then the NY state max of $170) be handled by the old company since the sale isn't effective yet and would the old company continue to pay the STD for the 6 weeks she would be out? Or would the STD change part way through her leave and be taken care of by the new company (60% for the allotted time out)? Also are taxes taken out of pay received when a person is on STD?
