I am not eligible for maternity/parental leave since my place of employment does not have over 50 employees. Plus, I have not been there a year. So, my only other option would be disability leave. Does anyone know how do I go about with the paperwork, how long will I be eligible to be out for...etc? Do I ask my OBGYN regarding applying for disability? I am due June, 2nd and do not want to wait last minute...
THANK YOU!!!

Disability insurance is not a form of leave. It's how you get paid while you are on leave. New Jersey is one of the few states that requires employers to provide disability insurance (or default to the state plan). There is information on the program here:

If you are not eligible for leave under FMLA, then the employer's obligation is to treat you no differently than any other non-FMLA eligible employee with a non-maternity condition. So, if they would give someone who's not eligible for FMLA and has a broken leg four weeks off, they have to give you the equivalent.
