Hi everyone, here is my situation. I worked at my job for three years and I have my house up for sale. We are planning on moving to SC as soon as our house sold. We got an offer and we are making settlement april 30th. It was a first time buyer and i wasn't sure if the loan was def approved so I waited until the 20th to make sure the loan was going thru. Today I was planning on giving my notice. Only one week but I had to be sure it was a done deal before I quit. My boss is the type that would say just pack up and leave now. So my boss calls me this morning and tells me last week while I was out, she found information on me to fire me. She saw mine & my husbands resume on Monster.com. It said I was avail to start May 7th and even saw our new address. That was a reason she gave and she also said I was insubordinate for a incident that happened april 5th. she asked me to cover for someone and I couldn't because I bought tickets to the philles games. She said it was a order and I was insubordinate. Oy vey. So those were her reasons for letting me go. My question is, should i bother filing for UC? I was fired, but I am moving. I was poking around on the site and it asks you if you plan to work in NJ again and I could just put no. Does anybody know anything about this? My ex boss is a major B!!! and loves having the authority to fire people.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

It won't cost you anything, aside from some time, to file for unemployment.

The employer may try to contest it, but, given that you had not resigned, they will have a tough time. Oh, yes, there will be those charges of insubordination, etc. Pure fluff to disguise the fact that they are ticked off about you planning to leave.

Yes I agree, they have to make a statement. I filed Monday and they wanted me to go to Camden for a interview and they will give me my determination there. I told them I was moving so they should cancel the claim. She said I could transfer the claim to SC. So it looks good for me I think. I'm not banking on it but it sure would help out.
Thanks for the reply

this is getting out of hand now, i was suppose to be paid for last week, the week i was on vacation and it's not in direct deposit. Do you think it will be a live check? I am so furious!!! I gave her th elaptop and the GPS on the day she wanted it back and no payroll. Isn't it against the law to hold wages? She is so evil. Any info on holding last check?

I'm unclear about when your last day worked was. In any case, have you called to find out? Many employers stop direct deposit for the final paycheck.

yes, I called and they said it was mailed. I just hope she is out of my life for good. Thank you for your reply.
