When an employee calls out sick and the employer requests a doctor's note is that note the employee brings in permitted to be placed in the employee's file? I am refering to only non-work realted illnesses or injuries.

If it just says, "Joe Smith was seen in my office on April 23" it's probably okay. If it goes on to list diagnosis and/or prognosis or treatment plan, it's not.
