Hi everyone,

I'm working in New York city and I want to leave my job.
In my company's handbook says that I should give a 15 days notice, but there's nothing about it in the contract. If I leave without giving the 15 days notice, can my company claim anything against me?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Since N Y is an at-will employment state, you can quit at any time for any reason just like they could terminate you at any time for any reason that is not prohibited by law (ie age, sex, etc.) unless there is a contract to the contrary. Does you contract have any info in it in regard to termination of employment?

What "contract" are you talking about?

No, my contract doesn't mention anything about termination.
Thanks very much Betty, you made me happy! :)
Now I have another question, I'll use another thread.
