I start work at 9 in the morning and will work any where usually till about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I will get a half hour lunch break if I work at least a 6 hour shift but nothing more than that half hour. and sometimes I will be working at least 2 to 4 hours alone so I might not ever even get a chance to use the restroom with in that time. Should they have to give me a 10 min break or is it leagal for them to bypass giving me a 10 min break and just give me a half hour lunch when i work 6 hours?

one 10 minute breaks should be given for each 4 hours worked or major fraction thereof (more than 2 hours being a major fraction). If you work more than 5, not 6 hours, you are entitled to a meal period of not less than one-half hour, however this may be waived by mutual agreement between you and the employer.

Villian is right, you can google california labor laws meals and breaks, and a link will show up that explains all that you are entitled to with different shift times. Good luck!!
