I was terminated from my position and the employer contacted me to tell me that I'm required to come in and sign for my last paystub. Why can't they just mail it to me like any other company would? Am I required by law to abide by their request or will they be required to mail to me if I don't pick it up? I refuse to go back to that place because of wrongful termination even though they don't have to have a reason to terminate employees. Also, I have direct deposit so why don't they just handle it that way? Thanks, T:eek:
The appropriate page of the AZ website is down so I can't tell you for certain, but I don't have any memory of AZ requiring an employer to mail a check on request. Some states do, but I'm pretty sure AZ is not one of them. So yes, unless I'm mistaken (which could happen - Patty? Scott? DAW?) they can require you to come back to pick it up.
A wrongful termination does not mean one that is unfair, a violation of company policy, or even that you were fired for something you did not do. It's not a wrongful term unless the employer is prohibited by law from firing you for the reason they did.
It is by no means unusual for direct deposit to be cancelled for the last check.

No restriction against requiring pick-up in person, to my knowledge.
