Are there exception to this? cbg 03-28-2007, 11:04 PM A non-exempt employee who is required to attend a mandatory meeting must be paid for it. An exempt employee never has to be paid more than their regular salary no matter how many mandatory meeting they attend. Gabz 03-31-2007, 07:41 PM so ok whats the different between non-exempt and exempt employees ScottB 03-31-2007, 07:54 PM so ok whats the different between non-exempt and exempt employees Non-exempts are often paid on an hourly basis and ALWAYS get overtime, if worked. If they attend a mandatory meeting, they must be paid for the time. Exempt employees are usually salaried and get the same salary every week, no matter how many hours they work. Attending a mandatory meeting does not entitle them to extra pay. Working 80 hours a week when they normallly work 40 hours does not, either.
