View Full Version : Is this legal employer practice? Mississippi

I'm employed full time at a small business. I've been employed there for over a year. Another employee (with whom I do not get along) has been employed there for seven years.

Recently, this other employee told our boss that she has seen me stealing from the cash register. Our boss reviewed surveilance tapes and found that I DID NOT steal. Now he's still threatening me with termination because of this.

Can he LEGALLY do this? In the even that he does terminate me, can I ask for written verification of the reason(s) he terminated me? After the (possible) wrongful termination, what steps do I need to take to remedy the situation?

Thank you-
BruceMS

Yes it is legal. Yes you can request anything you want, but no, your employer doesn't have to give it to you. The only thing I can suggest is to talk to your employer and explain your point of view.

An employer can send you home for any reason they want. However, discrimination must not be the reason for the firing.
