my husband was hired as an employee by a small company a few a weeks ago and after waiting 3 weeks to be paid, was paid an amount we could not understand which was no where near the amount that was agreed upon $32.00 an hour. When he finally got his check which should have been over $2000.00 it was only $491.00 and ther was no rate of pay and they said when they got around to checking the tile job he did then they would get around to paying him. We needed the money they gave him and deposited the check but the hours and amount do not come close to what my husband has written down. He was paid on March 16,2007 and today it's March 22, 2007 and we have heard nothing... Who should we talk to first???

HE (not you) should talk to someone in HR or Payroll. Failing there, contact the state DOL.
