View Full Version : Mid-stream purchase contract switch

My husband and I negotiated and agreed a price for a home purchase. We signed a contract and recieved the signed contract back from the sellers. Several days later, our realtor informed us that we had to sign a new contract because the property was being transferred to a relocation company. We now had to sign a contract with the relocation company, as opposed to the sellers. When looking at the house and putting in and agreeing upon an offer, we were never informed that the home would be transferred to a relo company. At the time, this felt uncomfortable to us but, as first-time home buyers, we trusted our realtor and attorney when we were told this is "normal." Now, people are telling us otherwise. Perhaps knowing that the home would be going through a relo company would have affected our offer, agreed closing date, and so forth. Does this situation sound legitimate or do we have any legal recourse because of the "mid-stream" contract switch?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Renegotiate to about 75% of what you were going to pay.

You are probably stuck with it unless there is hidden reasons the property was transferred.
