This is not strictly a legal question but perhaps someone has had the same situation and can help, or direct me to a different forum. I have a seasonal job [May1 - Nov1] I have definite start and end dates in writing from my employer. I am not required to look for work while receiving UI benefits. I am considering relocating to Florida Jan - Feb 2008. I will be staying at an RV park in Lake Buena Vista [Disney] and will have my mail forwarded there. Even though this is a tourist area this is not a vacation. There are pay phones at the RV park, can these be used to call to change my address and call in for weekly benefits? I will not have personal phone service other than my cell phone. Might staying in a resort area cause a problem with UI? I have talked with supervisors at both the NY and Fla UI offices with these questions and only received general answers that don't help much. I am trying to find out exactly what I need to do to protect my UI benefits. I know of other people who relocate during the winter and have heard "well I finally got that straightened out" [UI] so I am trying to do my homework ahead of time to prevent any problems. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Why are you not required to look for work while receiving benefits? Your job is a month away...they can demand you not take the month off on their dime.

Why are you not required to look for work while receiving benefits?

Perhaps because the job itself is seasonal with definite start and end dates?

dkeefe, I don't know the answer to your question, but an anonymous call to the UI office might be beneficial.
