I have been working for the same employer for almost 2 years. I averaged anywhere between 25 - 30 hrs. weekly. Hours have been slowly cut back and this past Wednesday I was told the hours would have to be cut back to 8 - 10 hrs. beginning immediatly. This was told to me upon returning after surgery.
My questions are can I apply for unemployment while I am still working only 8-10 hrs. Or if I just leave would I be eligiable for unemplyment here in NC?

I can't speak to NC unemployment laws, but a drastic cut in hours worked here could qualify an employee for partial unemployment.

Are you the only person having hours cut? This is a tactic sometimes used by employers to get an employee to quit without having to fire them. I find the latest cut, following surgery, to be a little bothersome.

Thanks Scott, I went down to Unemployment and I was approved for the difference in what I will be making in the 8-10 hrs. weekly. They advised me not to quit to wait and see what the boss does.
Thanks again Norma
