View Full Version : Good Ol Boy Attitude - What Can I Do As a Woman? Ohio

I work for a college and my boss is a poor manager. He tells me to do a job one way, so I do, then when staff complain he doesn't back me up and I'm the bad guy. He then tells me he's the boss and he has the right to do that. For 1/2 a yr I had problems with a coworker and went to him for assistance/help with the problem and he would tell me to get thicker skin - until one day he told me (and her) that if we don't start getting along he's going to bring a mud pit in and let us wrestle, I was offended but joked about it. The attitude in the office is that of the "good ol boys network", the guys are crude and sexist (I've tried to joke like them, but it doesn't come out right and makes me feel uncomfortable.) He has yelled at me to the point I was in tears and another time I was so scared I thought he was going to hit me. He told me that everything in the dept. was ok until I started working there and that I'm too strong of a woman to fit in that dept, but yet when I was hired, he told me he hired me BECAUSE I'm a strong woman and won't let the guys walk over me.
All the HR dept tells me to do is log everything and I'm not the only one who has said these things about the dept. - some comfort.
I can't take the abuse anymore, do I have any Ohio rights?
