I quit my job on very short notice, a minute or three before i walked out the door. I workede at a pizza parlor that happened to do deliveries. That night my boss was delivering because the usual delivery guy was out sick and I didn't feel too hot so I didn't take that job. But I ended up taking one delivery because my boss had just left when the food came out of the oven and the other employees and myself could not remember how far away he had gone out so I took it so that we wouldn't have any disgruntled customers. Every time someone takes a delivery they take a till of fifty dollars, of which they keep one dollar as gas money/tip. When I got back from my delivery I cashed out, but nobody saw me and there is no paperwork stating who took a delivery and who did not. I also happened to quit later that night because I got a new job and would be starting in two days. Now my ex-boss is holding forty nine dollars of my paycheck stating that I did not cash out and that the paperwork done at the end of the night reflects this. I am an honest person and what my ex-boss is now stating is that I basically stole that money from him. Now, I know that he was once shut down for tax fraud for paying under the table. And guess what, he still does. I have worked for him for ten months, about seven too lond, and he is rude and immature. Thus is why I quit. I know he is lying or he forgot that he took the money out or an overring that did not get reported. I have calmly talked to him, my ex boss, while he was not busy at work and he still states that I took the money. is there any way I can get that money?
Thank you for any help.

Except for those required by law, deductions cannot be made from your paycheck without your (really) voluntary written authorization. Did you sign anything, even at the beginning of your employment, that such a deduction was authorized under these circumstances?

I did not agree to anything, written or verbal. He basically just dedusted the money from my check, handed it to me, and explained that he thought it was my fault the money was missing. the way I figure it there are a varity of reasons for the money being missing. Including faulty recoedings or just shady paperwork.
Who should I go to if I want to get more information about how to handle this?
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I do not recall signing anything that would allow him to do this...
