I was offered a sales job at (retail chain). They say people generally pull pretty good money, but there is no base pay. It's commissions only. What happens if I work 40 hours and only make $100 in commissions? Is it my fault for not selling things well?

Your commissions divided by your hours worked must equal at least minimum wage. If you don't sell well, though, you can be let go.

That's what I thought. Clearly I plan on doing better than that, I just want to be sure that I'd be able to cover my rent, worst case scenario.
If that were to happen, do you think the large retail chain would automatically pay the money? Or would I have to request it?

To be on the safe side, I suggest you edit your last post to remove the name of the employer. Having said that, though, they are a big enough company they should know what the pay requirements are.
