I accepted a management position with a nonprofit last fall. After a few days I knew the job wasnt right for me so I resigned and rec'd an email saying I would be paid for the days that I worked. I followed up with several emails which went unanswered by this nonprofit. They receive considerable funding from the city and state of NY and they have not cut a check and this dates back to Nov. 2006! I have contacted the DOL which wont help me because I was a manager. Whether I was a manager or a minimum wage employee, I feel I am entitled to be paid for the work I've done, especially when the employer promised to do so. I am distraught over this matter and I want to know why the labor laws arent extended to me because I had a job as a manager. That is bias and discriminatory against someone who is educated and able to attain a higher level position. As I see it anyone who works for a living should be compensated according to the agreement with their employer.
