Are breaks REQUIRED for employee's that work from 8am to 6pm/7pm? There is an hour lunch break after 5 and a half hours , but isnt it a law that a break is required for the employee during the morning shift before the lunch break? As well as one after lunch in the afternoon/evening shift??
And if the employer is REFUSING to give employee's any breaks,,,what can be done to change it?
There is no Federal or Ohio law requiring breaks of any kind, at any time, for employees. The employer may legally refuse to provide any breaks at all, and the only thing the employee can do about it, other than finding a more reasonable employer, is to lobby his elected representatives to change the law.

 guess the breaks are a no no......:(
When some enlightened future president appoints me Labor Secretary, I assure you that will change. Until then, we're stuck with things as they are, and as they are, an Ohio employer cannot be compelled to provide breaks unless a bona fide contract says otherwise.

I'll run, and I'll name you. I'll also name ElleMD as Secretary of HHS. :D
