Hello all! I am just starting a new job for a trucking company based out of Pittsburg but the job is in Michigan.. I am told that it is company policy that I have to be employed with them for 3 years before I would get paid overtime.. Prior to that anniversary I would only get paid straight hourly for anything over 40 hours and I am told that I will work an average of 50 hours or so per week. The job is for a local city truck driver with an hourly wage. Does this sound correct according to law?? Thank you in advance for any help!

No, that is not legal. You MUST be paid time and a half for any time over 40 hours in a week that you work.

However, if they want to reduce overtime expenses by requiring that you have been with them for three years before allowing you to work overtime, THAT would be legal.
