I purchased my home new from a builder a little over 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems with water. We had 5 feet of water flood into the basement about 2 years ago after an 8 inch rain. The builder blamed the city for not cleaning out the drainage ditch and after a bunch of phone calls and threats I finally got the city to clean out the ditch and the builder put in a french drain in the middle of the yard to help divert water off my property. I am in the construction industry and had a friend come out to the house and he told me the builder buried the basement too deep so that it was almost impossible to get the correct grade from the foundation to divert water. I am constantly fighting water problems and I have a sump pump that has been replaced 3 times because it runs so often. I have had comments from neighbors that lived here when the house was built say that they knew this house was going to have problems since the builder had to pump water out the hole for the basement before the concrete was poored. When I bought the house the builder had a fan going in the basement and when I asked if there were any problems, he said there weren't and that it was down there because of an unrelated issue. Do I have any legal grounds to stand on here for help in fixing any issues? I am very concerned that when it comes time to sell the house that I will have problems and may take a hit. Thanks in advance.
