Hi. New to all of this and have looked but can't find a case quite the same as ours. My husband is wanting to adopt my son. He is twelve and Tony (husband) is the only father he has ever known. No father on the birth certificate. No father EVER in his life except Tony. Been married four years known each other for six years.
My question is can he adopt since there is no biological father on the scene? Also how long does this process take? Any ideas?

do you have any idea who the father is? My guess is you are going to have to notify him and ask him to take a paternity test and then ask him to sign over his rights. Be prepared, he may want to be part of his child's life and you won't be able to fight that. You could also file for child support.
