I am confused.. if the court won't allow contact, then I am not sure you can say he has abandoned the child.

Have you considered just asking him to terminate his rights?

How long have you been married to the step parent to be?

Maybe I am confused, but your 2 posts are in conflict with each other.

So, has contact been barred by a court OR has the court ordered that he may have contact with the children only with supervision?

You do not get to choose. What does the court order state?

Hi there, I sent you a PM to clarify.

Got it. I am now unconfused.:D

I answered you in the PM, and without reavealing what you sent to me, will tell you again that you do have grounds to file for TPR and SP adoption. I strongly urge you to do so with the help of an atty. Good luck.

How old is the child in question? And does the child still refer to his dad as dad? Sometimes the child would be affected by doing the adoption with your spouse even if the true dad has virtually no contact. Just commenting..no disrespect meant. Just know kids dont see things the way we adults do.
