I have a couple of question on recourse.
At my job the boss uses Nicknames to address workers. We are commonly referred to as Boy, Brother or Stud. I expressed my concern over the nicknames and was told to relax. One worker is an African-American we will call him worker X

My boss Told worker X. “let me break it down so YOU can understand me, your boy has 100 dime bags. You are allowed to not collect on _____ of them. You need to figure out who you don’t collect from.

My boss then Told worker X. “if he didn’t stop ****ing up he better get his shine box out and start working it”.

We are made to run company vehicles that are unsafe as in they are cube trucks so the review mirror is unusable. One truck has not had a passenger side mirror for about a month and even though I told my boss I did not want to drive the truck any longer I was told to relax and forced to drive it anyway.

I was also asked to be a alibis to his wife. He stated he was out drinking with co-workers and needs me to say to his wife that he was training me.

I spoke to his boss about racist comments and that they made me feel uncomfortable and the fact that my boss chooses to use nick names instead of our chosen name. Boy, Brother and Stud are the norm. This is also after I asked him to not use a nickname with me. A week has past and the nick names stayed.

My boss then, while talking to a female worker said to do her job better because he is going to be working his balls off.

On Monday (7 days past the first time) I sat down with my boss’s boss and aired my grievances’ again, He stated the comments about the dime bags and shine box were not racist and just a poor choose of words.
He also stated that Boy and brother could not be taken as racist either. He did however, not like the Stud nickname.

Since I have expressed my concerns of feeling uncomfortable with the comments and nick names and my boss’s boss has (in not so many words) told me to relax as well, is there anything I can do??

Thanks for the help

Is he only calling people of a certain race by these names? If not, then the boss in an equal opportunity moron. That's not illegal.

(Personally, Stud doesn't strike me as coming close to racist. Brother and Boy, you *might* be able to have a legitimate gripe IF there is alot more to this. That's is just my completely worthless opinion, btw.)

There are a lot of goofy managers out there with no idea how to keep employees happy. But as it was stated before, it isn't illegal to be really bad at your job.

One of the reasons I enjoy watching the TV show "The Office" and reading "Dilbert" comics... Those co-workers really do exist.

The only issue you may have is the trucks if they are required to be up to a certain standard. You can try looking on the OSHA website or DMV if they are licensed.
