  :( She says that my lease is up in February, and that she wants to increase my rent about $400. I've read in some fliers that I got from base housing about how rentals cannot increase without notice and can only go up by 10%.

Mind you, that my lease was actually up in December 2006. I signed it in December. I'm actually only supposed to be month to month right now.

I'm just trying to keep myself with a roof over my head until the base housing has an opening. The landlord was suppose to deal with my husband, but she didn't call back until the day he shipped out to Iraq, and way after the time he left Port.

If there are any CA people out there, please feel free to correct me. But as I read it, the landlord can charge over 10%. The only difference is that if the increase is greater than 10%, the landlord must give you a 60 day notice.

I would check to see if your city has rent control. If there is, your landlady can not raise it more than 4%.
