I moved into a mobile home with a friend when I lost my previous home due to disability and length of claim process. I am in the final appeal process with my employer for LTD and it looks good for a favorable approval within 30 days. The mobile home was not livable when we took possession and we were told that if we wanted to repair it we could move in for the lot rent only. ($180 mo) We were also offered deal to buy the trailer for $2000 to be paid as we were able to pay, (no pmts set up). My friend put his name on the paperwork, but only paid $100 on trailer. I paid a total of $800, for which I have a receipt. I also put about $2000 into repairs of the mobile home, repaired water leaks, holes in floors, new tile and carpet, and misc. I was able to do this because I rec'ed a check for one year's disability. (I am an RN and will receive about $2000 per mo when the payments start. I indicated this to the manager of the mobile home park when my income ceased due to the appeal. I asked whether the $800 could go onto the lot rent, since I didn't want to buy the trailer and my friend was not contributing financially.
She said, "Oh, I think we'll be able to do that", but did not give me a firm answer at the time. When the first of the month rolled around again, I did not have the lot rent and she stated that she had not had a chance to talk to the owner about applying the money onto my overdue balance. She did not indicate that there would be a problem with my being overdue, which led me to believe that my balance would be covered.
Another month passed and when I went to the office she bluntly stated that she was told there would be no refund of the money I had paid. She also said that she was 'holding off' on beginning eviction proceedings. 3 weeks later I received a 3 day eviction notice.
I have no where to go, am unable to work, and feel that I have been unfairly and unethically treated. Do I have any options? This situation and the stress and worry caused by it is making me physically ill, not to mention the effect on my bipolar disease.
PLEASE HELP I am at the end of my rope and have never been homeless. That is a very frightening thought.
Thank you very much
