I am trying to break my lease and have been trying to reach the landlord. He has unexpectedly gone to mexico and has been unreachable for 6 weeks. Is this grounds for ending the lease without approval. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks
BTW the property mentioned is in Michigan

What does your written lease say about your questions?

Not much at all, that is the issue that I am currently dealing with. It does not mention much about penalties for breaking the lease either.

Ok here is the situation, I have gotten a new job and need to move to Houston. We have been trying to reach the landlord for 6 weeks and even his contact has not been able to get ahold of him. His contact told us to look for someone to sub lease, although the lease specifically states we need written permission from the landlord to do so and his contact does not have power over the property. So this fact along with the landlord being unreachable is why I am wondering if there is any way out. Obviously I have not dealt with this a lot, sorry if im not answering as specifically as you need...please bare with me. I really appreciate the help!!
