I am a supervisor for a company removing equipment from a plant in NC. We are a subcontractor working for a general contractor in this plant. This plant is very strict on saftey so we make sure we follow all safety policies. My supervisor duties include safety coordination for our company. Several times in areas of work I had the red "do not enter" tape up & the employees of the plant will either go under or cut the tape. Now my understanding is that the red tape means no one beyond it unless authorized which would be the people doing the work. This has happend several times & each time I followed the correct steps in making a report to the general contractors supervisor. After the 4th or 5th time, my boss calls me & tells me that he has to come to the jobsite for a meeting with the general contractors project manager & someone with the plant(excluding me). After the meeting I was told that we could not put the caution tape up in the work area & if we did that the plant employees had the right to go through them no matter the danger. Now the work areas was where rigging/removing equipment was taking place & was very dangerous if you was not supposed to be there. In addition to being told this the project manager of the general contractor said the the plant had ask me to leave because I had upset someone & burned too many bridges. Now I know that is not a clear cut reason to ask someone leave without more explanation but they did. Now my company has little work & this is a big project that I was on & I'm not allowed back. Was it legal for them to ask me to leave without more detail & not in writting ? Also I have lost alot of money because of this, could I seek some type of backpay? Is this worth a complaint to osha & the labor board ?
