Hi, I currently reside in Ct. I have been working for a retail corporation at a specific location for about 2 years now. Recently I was put on a "team" which altered my normally sceduled hours (no problem). However my job description is totally altered and my place of work has been changed to multiple locations many 2hrs. away or more. Can the corporation alter my job disc. and force me to work the completly new job? I went from being a operations manager to an overnight inventory assosiate without any contract or written agreement. This greatly alters my ability to meet the scheduling rquirements and my job may now be in jepordy. I have requested any position available at any reasonable location with my previous title (which there are many) with no response or explanation besides NO. The company is trying to force me to do a job I wasn't hired for, because of the simple fact that they cannot fill the position. Is there anyway I can protect myself from these malicious actions?

Short of an valid employment contract prohibiting such changes, the employer is within his legal rights to change your place of employment and your job duties. Sounds like, for some reason, they may be trying to "force you out", but what they are doing is not inherently illegal. If you can't work this out internally, you may have to vote with your feet.
