I work for a city in Ohio and I am currently classified as permanent part time. I have been told that after so many hours worked per year (2080 I believe) I automatically have to be classified as full time. I've researched this online and I haven't been able to find a definite answer. Does anyone know anything about this? Even a link to a website or a book title explaining this topic would be extremely helpful. Please let me know as soon as possible, and thank you so much for your time.

No, there is no Federal law and no law in Ohio (or in most states) that says you must be made full time if you work 2080 hours in a week. That's why you can't find such a law - there isn't one.

In 48 out of 50 states, what is considered full time is up to the employer.

If you are working under a union contract, this might be addressed there.
